Dancer | Choreographer| Teacher
For over a decade, dance has been the pulse of my life. My journey began unexpectedly: at six, I dreamed of ballet, but my parents chose Kathak. What began as chance became a lifelong relationship with rhythm, emotion, and expression.
Under Shri Biplob Kar, I trained in Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Rabindra Nritya, Nazrul Geeti, Deshattobodhok, Modern, and multiple forms of Bengali folk dance. Each style taught me a different language of storytelling, shaping my belief that a dancer’s potential lies not in one form, but in the versatility to understand and embrace many.
In 2019, I joined Panwar Music and Dance Academy, training under Shri. Hemant Panwar ji and Smt. Vaishali Panwar ji in the Jaipur Gharana of Kathak. This deepened my understanding of rhythm and structure while encouraging me to push boundaries and make the form my own. I also began exploring Contemporary and Bollywood, while returning to Bharatanatyam briefly under Dr. Sanjukta Banerjee at Sougandhikam Dance Academy, rediscovering my love for grace, geometry, and storytelling.
In 2023, I continued my Kathak journey under Guru Subhash Chandra Bhattacharya, an esteemed exponent of the Lucknow Gharana. This became a defining chapter in my artistry. His warmth and faith in me went beyond my skill; he saw my spirit and expressed his wish for me to carry his legacy forward and continue the Parampara of Kathak for the next generation. Though rooted in Canada and unable to take on that role in India, his belief became a lasting inspiration to keep the tradition alive wherever my journey leads.
Along the way, I have won multiple competitions, collaborated with major production houses, and performed at numerous cultural events in Canada and abroad. Through it all, I remain driven by the desire to create, express, and connect through movement.
For me, dance has never been about finding purpose; it has become purpose. It is how I tell stories, give meaning to emotion, and understand life itself.
Dance isn’t the destination. It’s the journey; still unfolding, one step at a time.
My motto has always been, and will remain: “I’m just a dancer in the making.”
